The Beast Inside

Mistaketh not soft spoken voice
nor meekness for thy perfect choice..
Better still to speed thy pace
than mock me for my poise or grace...
But, if the thought doth linger still,
to try and bend me to thy will?
Then glance into mine eyes and see
the dark that sleeps inside of me.
The Beast within but slumbers deep,
my calmness doth His presence keep...
my silence, stills His raging howls...
my kindness, soothes His angered growls..
His cage hath neither lock nor key,
yet he rails at his captivity...
His yellowed gaze is paired with mine
and angered thoughts are so entwined
we think as one my Beast and I,
my every breath is but His sigh...
He sees and knows your every sin
although you push them deep within...
The fear that trembles deep inside
the bluster that you use to hide...
He whispers low into mine ear,
your deepest woe,
your greatest fear...
the happiness you failed to find,
the worries deep within your mind...
And know that should you try to stay
my Beast will have his merry way...
As all your sins are brought to air
your fears laid bare,
your secrets shared
and all those things you tried to hide
my Beast will find them deep inside,
and claw them up into the light
until you realize your plight,
and retreat in fear into the night...
his laughter follows your frantic pace,
as you try in vain to hide your face...
But should you choose to walk away
His yellowed gaze will fade to grey...
and whispered words of fears held deep
subside as He returns to sleep...
And all is well as calm retains
my Beast held captive,
His cage unchained...
A brush with Chaos held at bay,
and peace will reign another day.
But remember as thy day doth end...
that once, I even called you friend...
